As you may suspect by now, vote sizing is an idea of great controversy and almost unprecedented ambition. It is a drastic response to what is perceived as a critical situation. If you feel that everything is hunky-dory and that all we need is more optimism and more of the same, then this book is not for you. But if you feel that what’s needed is a substantial systemic change to trigger a new consciousness, read on.
This book will try to convince you to join the vote sizing movement by:
- Deconstructing false beliefs.
- Explaining how vote sizing can resolve violent conflict.
- Explaining how vote sizing can initiate non-violent engagement.
- Exploring the science involved in vote sizing.
- Examining the positive economic benefits of vote sizing.
Explaining what you can do to get involved and instigate real change.
We realize that there’s a lot of ground to cover, that political theory doesn’t usually make for the most exciting reading, and that few of us have the spare time to study complicated social issues; so the first thing we’re going to do is clear the decks of theoretical matters in as few pages as possible. To clarify our position, we’ll divide our framework for discussion into two main categories – or what we’ll call our value systems – that drive most of our actions. These value systems are wealth and power. Once we’ve laid our groundwork, we’ll outline how money, the vote, capitalism, democracy, production, consumption, regulation and stimulation are supposed to fit in. Then we’ll introduce the concept of pyramids to demonstrate the proper creation and distribution of power and wealth. Once we have our perceptions locked in, we’ll see how, in the real world, corruption undermines the different areas of our social fabric and how each of the pyramid principles has been distorted into an hourglass.
Brace yourself, because we’re going to do all this in the first chapter! Then, in the following four chapters we’ll specifically address each of the four pyramids/hourglasses, and dissect how representation can become tyranny, the rule of law g brutality, opportunity g patronage, and reward g greed. Singularly, in the Tyranny chapter, by charting our new movement from birth as a conversation topic to adolescence as a leading fringe political party (the Democratic Empowerment Party) we’ll see how vote sizing counters corruption by re-politicizing the population and focusing attention back on electoral reform. Next, in the Brutality chapter, we’ll see how by continually engaging the ruling elite in serious yet non-violent ways, the DEP will continue to ascend and finally be in a strong enough political position to restore a proper rule of law. In the Patronage chapter, we’ll look into how the economy is mismanaged and the underlying uncertainty found in human nature that vote sizing/the DEP exposes. And lastly in the Greed chapter we’ll examine how exceedingly disastrous corruption can be once it takes over and how so much of what we’ve discussed so far – plus ideas like fear, humiliation, modesty, integrity, cohesion and sustainability – doesn’t occur in isolation but instead forms as integrated systems to which vote sizing is able to restore balance and sanity – thereby giving all of us, regardless of our values, a fighting chance to live powerful, balanced and rewarding lives.
